Committees and Coordinators

Below is a list of our current committee and coordinator roles. If a position is available, it will be marked with “– OPEN”.

Filling a role helps strengthen our school community. The more helping hands, the better the events—and the more fun and rewarding it is for everyone involved.

SPONSOR COORDINATOR – OPEN

Sponsors are the primary source of funding for the PTA, making it possible to host many of our amazing student programs and staff appreciation events. The Sponsor Coordinator serves as the main point of contact for current sponsors, helps maintain strong relationships, assists with onboarding new sponsors, and may contribute ideas for identifying potential new partners. This role is essential in helping the PTA grow its support and impact.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

The Hospitality Committee leads all PTA-sponsored staff appreciation efforts throughout the school year. From setting up a fun soda bar or creating a build-your-own flower bouquet station to treating the staff to pizza dinners, this committee finds thoughtful and creative ways to make teachers and staff feel valued. They show our gratitude during fall and spring conferences and during Teacher Appreciation Week.

COMMUNITY SERVICE COORDINATOR

The PTA organizes community service events throughout the year to give students and families meaningful opportunities to give back. The Community Service Coordinator plans and oversees these events, such as food drives and winter gear collections. In the past, donations have supported organizations like the Food Bank of the Rockies and the 27J Resource Center, which provides clothing and essentials to local families in need. This role may also involve coordinating with student groups, like the NJHS, to help collect and deliver donated items.

SPIRIT NIGHT COORDINATOR

The Spirit Night Coordinator plans and manages “Spirit Night” events, where the PTA partners with local businesses that donate a percentage of sales back to our school. These events typically take place after school at restaurants, fast food spots, or dessert shops. The coordinator works with businesses to schedule dates, promote the events, and ensure families know to mention Discovery so their purchase counts. These off-campus events happen multiple times throughout the year and are a fun, easy way to build community and support our school.

K – 5 EVENT COORDINATOR – OPEN

DINO NIGHT (GRADES 6–8) EVENT COORDINATOR – OPEN

These event coordinator roles involve organizing and hosting engaging, off-campus events for students by grade group. The K–5 Event Coordinator plans an event specifically for elementary students, while the Dino Night Coordinator focuses on middle schoolers in grades 6–8.

Each event is supported by a set budget and designed to provide students with a fun opportunity to relax and connect with their peers outside of school. Previous events have taken place at roller rinks, museums, and local recreation centers.

EVENT COORDINATORS

Our Event Coordinators are essential volunteers who take the lead on planning and organizing one specific event—such as Back to School Night and the Veterans Day Breakfast. These roles are perfect for those who want to make a big impact without a long-term commitment. Coordinators work with the PTA board, other volunteers, and school staff to ensure everything runs smoothly and families have a memorable experience.

ENGAGEMENT CHAIR

This role helps foster a strong sense of community by driving engagement opportunities for the entire Dino community. The Engagement Chair supports school-wide connection through inclusive activities, outreach efforts, and family-focused events that bring students, parents, and staff together. Coordinates events including Back to School Night and Dino Compass Night.
